Dr. Orlando Villaverde is an accomplished aviation professional, educator, and safety leader with more than two decades of experience in flight training, aviation operations, and academic leadership. His career reflects a deep commitment to aviation safety, professional excellence, and the advancement of future aviation professionals.
He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and dual master’s degrees in Aeronautical Science and Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His educational background, combined with extensive operational experience, provides a unique perspective on aviation leadership, safety management, and organizational performance.
A certified flight instructor in both airplanes and helicopters, Dr. Villaverde has logged thousands of instructional hours and trained pilots at every level, from Private Pilot through Flight Instructor. His aviation career includes service as a pilot and supervisor with the City of Miami Police Department’s Aviation Detail, where he developed extensive experience in mission-focused operations, leadership, and public safety.
Dr. Villaverde is also a UAS Administrator, aviation consultant, and member of the FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam), contributing to aviation safety through education, outreach, and industry engagement. His dedication to excellence earned him two nominations by the FAA as Southern Region General Aviation Flight Instructor of the Year.
